Animated cartoon pictures to spread messages

Animated pictures took the world by a storm since the time they first appeared on the main screen. The earlier animations were simply made for the purpose of light entertainment. However, it was realized with the release of Bambi in 1942 that animated cartoon characters possess an undeniable caliber to influence the thought process of children or rather people in general. Through the life of Bambi, a roe deer, Walt Disney Productions tried to explain the intricacies of the natural life cycle. The movie is not hard hitting, still, with a subtle plot revolving around the attributes of life it appealed to all. The images have a strong influence which is hard to ignore.

The transition from animated characters to full pictures inspired the film makers to raise their standards. With technical advancement came a new genre of animated pictures. Each country, region and religion has a legend to it. The Miracle Maker an animated picture on the life of Jesus Christ was successful in captivating the audiences as it depicted the facts in a form which was easier to grasp. The legendary characters of Hercules, the sun of Zeus in Greek mythology looked true to life in the skin of a cartoon character in
Hercules the animated picture. Many other mythological and legendary animations ruled the box office after the nineteen eighties.

Who doesn't wish to be socially acceptable? Even cartoon characters felt the same. Animated pictures that dealt with social dilemmas became the flavor of the nineties. It all began with Cats don't dance . A young ambitious cat named Danny travels from his small hometown to Hollywood with a song in his heart, rhythm in his feet and the ambition of making it to the Hollywood. Did he succeed? Sure he did but only after making sure that many people do take up the determination to follow their dreams after seeing this movie.

Seeing that the message was well put across through a cartoon character, movie-makers shifted their focus towards environmental concerns. The first animated movie in this respect was Fern Gully: The Last Rainforest that talked about deforestation. Ice Age: The Meltdown came with a bang and cracked the box office. The images in this movie were able to convey the dire effects of global warming. It proved that animated films with loads of chummy cartoon characters and a strong message certainly can't be missed. Then came Happy Feet with loads of singing and dancing penguins. Though void of any direct references to global-warming still it somehow managed to inform about the dire effects of global warming, overfishing and oil spills. The characters were simply successful in stealing the show.

Animated pictures usually carry a message, be it loud, indirect or discreet. Interpreting the image that the characters are trying to portray could be entertaining as well as illuminating.
