In 1940s Tezuka introduced film-like storytelling and character in comic strip format. His initial comic collection which was published in 1947 it was called New Treasure Island and it instantly popularized children's manga. So famous that Osamu's character Astro Boy was turned into an anime series in the 1960s and is still shown worldwide even today!
The beginning of the twenty first century has seen a boom in the manga cartoon popularity. Manga fans steadily emerged in the American and European continent. American artist Frank Miller’s drawings have been strongly influenced by manga, particularly by Lone Wolf and Cub. Frank Miller was one of the first American comic strip artists to make use of decompression, a style prevalent in manga. The manga range has clearly spread the world over so much so that they are also available in the form of webcomics.
