There were times when people waited days and days to catch a glimpse of their favorite cartoon shows on the television networks. Kids used to wait for Sundays to come not for the sake of a holiday but to catch a cartoon show. In December 1986, it began twenty-four hour a day programming. This was like a wish come true for cartoon lovers. The animated cartoon images portrayed by the channel were widely applauded. Keeping in view the rising popularity, the Disney channel, along with reruns of previous shows, started televising newer an fresher shows. Disney also programmed Art Attack in 1989, a series about art and craft. This show teaches children how to make cartoon drawing a fun activity.

Demand for cartoons just kept skyrocketing. In 1998 Toon Disney, a spin-off of the original channel, was launched. Apart from animated cartoons, Disney channel also televises animated movies and various teen shows.

Cartoon Network
Next to join the bandwagon was Cartoon Network, a Turner Broadcasting creation. Just like Disney channel, Cartoon Network also televised funny cartoon shows as well as children movies and other shows. Originally it started in America, then it made its way to several other countries as well. Shows like Tom and Jerry, Jetsons, Flintstones and Scooby-Doo were enjoyed by all.

Nickelodeon
Nickelodeon was launched in April 1979. Still Disney channel is considered to be the father of twenty-four hour cartoon channel since Nickelodeon never televised cartoon shows around the clock. From the very start they primarily focused upon small kids and pre-teens. In 1991 Nickelodeon started Nicktoons(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicktoons) which is a set of animated cartoons televised on the channel. In 2002 it was converted into a round the clock cartoon channel namely Nicktoons TV.

Animax
Animax is a day-and-night animation channel established by Sony Corporation in 1998. Animax is devoted to anime or Japanese animation. It is sought to be the largest twenty-four hour network dedicated to anime in the entire world. Japanese was the initial language in which it was programmed. In 2004 Animax launched Asian versions of the channel featuring its anime programming within separate networks and feeds in the several regions and languages.

The above channels will assure that you never get enough of your favorite toons. The cartoon channels are amongst the most watched channels all around the globe. They never fail to entertain and the good thing is that they just keep rolling without a pause. Abby, Bel and Kewl may not have their own cartoon channels, however, they are funny, entertaining and you can never get enough of them.
